Our recent progresses
After building many prototypes, the mechanical structure is really, really close to the final product structure. The robot is now more stable, and can embed all the motors and the 2 electronics cards we use : Arduino Mega and Raspberry Pi 3.
About features, we are happy to announce that we finished the “learning mode”, so you can control the robot directly with with your hands, without any computer. The robot will then replay the sequence of given positions.
We’ve also built a basic web interface which allows you to easily control Niryo One with many possibilities : position, orientation, axes, all together, or one by one. You can save commands and replay them when you want. The user interface for web and mobile applications is under development, and will be ready before the first shipments of the product.
You may want to use different tools with Niryo One… We’ve made it easy for you. You will have the possibility to easily switch the end effector tool, to use different kind of grippers, a pen, … More tools are under development and will be introduced soon !
With the gripper, you will be able to do “pick and place” tasks, with any position and any orientation in the robot area. This is one of the best advantage of a 6 axis robotic arm, compared to a 3 or 4 axis arm, which can only handle tools facing the ground.
Many more features will be available for Niryo One, we will communicate about them soon enough, and provide a video for each feature.
Before giving you the technical infos of our Kickstarter campaign, we would like to share our vision with you.
We want to bring accessible robots for everyone : makers, students, small companies, … And build a community around open source projects, so not only robots are becoming accessible, but also robotics knowledge and education.
